Mountain View, Ca, Us

May 2022 - Present

Director, Technical Program Management

New York, Ny, Us

(The Walt Disney Company assumed full operational control of Hulu)Took on leadership of TPM for the unified Disney Streaming Web team, a team of 10 TPMs with 2 managers supporting 100 engineers who deliver Disney+, Hulu, Star+ and ESPN+ to over 100 million subscribers. Additionally, also lead the Disney Streaming Customer Support Insights TPM team of 2, supporting 20 engineers who build the internal customer support tools used by our Viewer Experience and Customer Support teams to assist those 100 million subscribers with myriad billing or technical issues they may face across all platforms, not just Web.Rapidly integrated my team into an unfamiliar process, taking on last mile delivery of Star+ on Web and the full development lifecycle for Disney+'s launches in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong while aligning my team with the rituals, reports, milestones, and dependency management used by the legacy Disney Streaming Services team to ensure Web delivered all experiences on schedule and without issue, staying Agile and learning as we went.Drove the harmonization of legacy Hulu and legacy Disney+ intake, refinement, backlog management and alignment across all engineering teams in partnership with Program Leadership, adopting a Best of Both Worlds approach that synthesized the rolling planning of Hulu with the delivery at scale of Disney+ that will lead to more efficient planning and execution for Disney Streaming.

Senior Manager, Technical Program Management (Apple, Android, And Web Development)

Santa Monica, Ca, Us

Assumed responsibilty for the Hulu Web TPM team in addition to the Mobile team, leading a team of 10 TPMs through a period of unprecedented change within Hulu as The Walt Disney Company began the process of integrating the Hulu and Disney+ engineering teams into one. Navigated changes in direct management as well as organizational leadership while keeping my team focused on the business, ensuring features still made it to customers on time and with high quality.Reporting directly to the VP of TPM, organized the framework for how to integrate the separate Hulu and Disney+ portfolios and product processes into a single unified backlog with consistent prioritization and value scoring, in partnership with TPM leaders across Hulu and Disney+. Embraced the principle of driving decision making down to the managers of the teams themselves, with only escalations requiring the intercession or invovlement of leadership.Led through change as the Disney+ and Hulu teams merged, driving knowledge sharing and building trust to lead by example how to help unify two separate engineering teams the right way, developing shared understanding of unsolved problems and identifying areas where each team could learn from the best practices of the other. Launched ESPN+ on Hulu, a key integration of The Walt Disney Company's groundbreaking ESPN+ originals with Hulu's Live Sports offering to provide an unrivaled sports experience in streaming, only on Hulu and ESPN+.

Managed the Mobile Portfolio, containing backlogs for each engineering team that needed to be sequenced with dependencies aligned across partner engineering teams, all while giving the right clarity to Product and Design. Owned all updates for Mobile to senior leadership, including the CTO, Head of Product, and VP of Program.Reduced bug debt, escaped defects, and hotfixes across Apple and Android by aligning Program, Engineering, and Quality to ensure the right visibility was given to releases and testing, standardizing release communications across the team, and resurrecting a monthly KPI review to drive ownership for key Engineering and Quality KPIs within those teams.Fostered a culture of pride and inclusivity with the Mobile team by driving Sprintly Demos, encouraging teams to take the time to celebrate their work with fun and engaging videos and live demos and emceeing an hourly presentation to share those accomplishments with each other and with stakeholders, ensuring any developer who wished for a moment to share their work was welcome to do so.

Program Manager Ii

Redmond, Washington, Us

For Windows 8.1, I helped design and drive the vision for Text Input, leveraging my domain knowledge to prioritize key investments and deliver substantial improvements over Windows 8. I helped build the Text Input Team and get everyone excited and committed to the goals I defined. As the release went on, I expanded scope to fill gaps as and before they formed, taking a commitment to ensure a quality release.I also invented, designed, and developed a patentable technology to dynamically update text prediction dictionaries with new, trending terms as they enter the common lexicon, rather than depending on the release cycle to update.

Program Manager

Redmond, Washington, Us

For Windows 8, I drove the end-to-end user experience of the Windows Touch Keyboard’s visibility model, which was overhauled for Windows 8 and newly specified for the Windows 8 Store Apps. This required partnering with multiple teams across Windows, from the UI framework owners to the low-level component owners that we depended on. The Touch Keyboard is present across the entire system, so the scenario matrix for usage of the component had immense scale and scenario validation was a critical responsibility that I owned.I also collaborated with Microsoft Games Studios, working directly with producers to define the UX of the Microsoft Solitaire Collection app and receiving a “Special Thanks” credit in acknowledgement, and I published a Game Design Guidance article on MSDN, helping thousands of developers learn how to adapt their UI to incorporate Windows 8 UI elements.
