- Responsible for curriculum change and quality assurance in a large social science School, including departments of politics, sociology, anthropology, social work, science studies, and social/public policy;- Responsible for coordinating annual quality assurance reports and leading external validation processes;- Mainstreamed and embedded quality assurance into overall teaching and learning procedures.

Seconded to work on the Edinburgh and Southeast Scotland City Deal, successfully negotiated and worth c. £1.2bn to the city region. Reporting to the University's Senior Vice-Principal (Provost) and working as a member of a senior team spanning 4 universities, 6 colleges, and 6 local authorities, with partners in the private sector and civic society. Responsible for: - providing expert policy advice to senior officials; - developing policy narratives for the deal;- drafting policy documents for government;- representing the University of Edinburgh with officials at the City of Edinburgh Council;- coordinating the work of the city-region's Higher Education City Deal working group;- stakeholder management and engagement at various levels of government.

Leadership of an institute at the University of Edinburgh, responsibilities included:- public and civic engagement for the University, via the Academy;- budgetary management;- academic programme management and curriculum development;- student recruitment and admissions;- communications and external engagement;- coordinating a team of three administrators;- lecturer and programme director on the UK's first Master of Public Policy.

Six-month interim appointment where I was responsible for:- Developing the first policies and regulations for a cross-Scotland ESRC doctoral training centre;- Coordinating the work of a team of 2 administrators;- Providing policy advice to the Director and to the Board of Directors.- Preparing meetings and agendas of the Board of Directors.
