About Daniel Kent
Software engineer with 5+ years of experience in a myriad of different specializations, roles, and tools, all concentrated around the planning, creation, and implementation of software.Currently working on clients through Argano and ArganoMS3, helping build industry-leading integrations with dozens of specialized platforms. While primarily working on API development via Java, Spring, and Apache Camel, I am also actively working full-stack development using C# (as well as other elements of the .NET Framework), SQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and more. I typically get assigned to stubborn problems that require stubborn developers, no matter whether or not I've worked with the tools or technology in the past.If I had to rank and describe my experience, it would look something like this:1. API-led Development and Data Integration - Back-End integrations from source-of-record applications to downstream systems, - Remote execution and automation of business processes- APIs designed, documented, and implemented to do anything a client wants2. Full-Stack Development - Front and Back-End development of Web Applications such as Portals, Management tools, etc. - Programmability and styling via JS/CSS/HTML- Logic execution on the back end via C#, Java, SQL Stored Procedures, API requests, etc.3. Architecture, Containerization, and Automation - Kubernetes and Docker- General Documentation (OAS/Swagger for APIs, As-Build documentation, etc.)- CI/CD and Pipelines for automated testing and deployment (Jenkins)- General automation, automation scripts, etc. (via PowerShell or similar)- API Gateways and adjacent technologies (Kong, Kuma, etc.)4. General Software Development - Standalone applications run locally on client machines- Applications designed for singular purposes, one-offs, etc.5. Whatever the client or my employer tells me needs to be done.- Individual projects built using enterprise applications (Microsoft PowerApps Portals with custom behavior, Workday Integrations, Custom Plugins for API Gateways, Alexa Skills/General AWS work, etc.)- GIS Projects (using existing or public APIs and open-source data)- We'll see what comes next!

Software Engineer
Worked as a Software Engineer building applications and integrations across several projects at clients served directly by ArganoMS3. Responsible for actively developing and maintaining SharePoint web applications. Contributed to development tasks on both on the front end (JavaScript, Kendo UI, HTML, and CSS) and the back end (C#/SQL), whether it be through developing functional and appealing UI/UX or facilitating server-side data management and delivery through web services and stored procedures.Through various other projects, I have also gained experience in the use of other tools such as Microsoft PowerApps, Dataverse, Power Automate, and a number of other services I've worked with directly or developed integrations for. My current goals are to continue diversifying my experience, each time I find it gets easier and easier to become proficient in each new thing I try, and I'd like to become the piece that fits wherever it's placed.
Jr. Software Engineer
I started at MS3 under their industry-leading training program, learning all parts of the software development lifecycle firsthand from instructors with years of experience in the industry. As part of this program, we each developed a REST API entirely from scratch using Spring Boot. We were expected to deliver a complete application fulfilling a full set of requirements in just a few weeks. We were also required to create an OAS for our API, follow strict version control best practices, automate our deployments using Jenkins, containerize applications with Docker, and conduct extensive load and integration testing using JMeter and Postman. We regularly presented our progress to senior employees and our instructors. Following this we needed to convert the entire application into Mule 4, and obtain the Mule 4 Certified Developer certification. After finishing the training program, I pursued a specialization in data integration, API development and API gateways, particularly using Apache Camel and Kong. I acted in a consulting role for many of my first clients, primarily assisting in the configuration of Kong deployments across many different environments. Often required to pick up and become proficient in technologies exceptionally quickly, I've gained a distinct adaptability and broad skillset across many different disciplines.Less than two years after starting at MS3, I was promoted to Software Engineer due to my work developing dozens of integrations for one of our biggest clients, where I continue to work to this day.

Also worked on pioneering AWS adoption by the city, building Alexa skills for the purposes of dissemination of information to Norfolk residents using the Alexa development console and various AWS services such as Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and IAM.
