My business is implant safety. In order to become an expert, I have developed my skills in these branches:(1) Academic research and teaching at Rostock University Medical Center, where I am holding a part-time position as Assistant Professor at the Biomechanics and Implant Technology Research Lab.(2) Founder and CEO of INNOPROOF GmbH, an accredited testing lab for most types of load-bearing implants and surgical instruments.(3) Expert witness for analysis of failed implants under court mandate (Öffentlich bestellter und vereidigter Sachverständiger für Medizinprodukte).>>> Accumulating the experience from these branches, the loop is closed: Finding out why implants fail, conducting research on implant performance and future trends, working on improvements of test standards, and providing preclinical testing for market clearance. These activities have helped me to gain influence in the medical device community and to hold different additional positions:(a) German Expert in ISO Working Group, ASTM and DIN committees(b) Head of Implant Safety Working Group within the German Society for Orthopaedics and Traumatology (DGOU)(c) Convener DIN NA 027-05-07 AA "Breast implants"(d) Coordinator of Cluster "Numerical Simulation" within Network for Musculoskeletal Biomechanics (MSB-NET)I am always looking for fruitful collaborations nationally and internationally, on all topics which fit the implant safety loop.
