I am currently coordinating a large work team, in charge of developing a benchmarking study of operating costs that aims to offer natural gas and electric power distribution companies in Latin America, the following:i) calculate partial productivity indicators (KPI: Key Performance Indicator) of the comparing companies in the study, previously selected based on similar characteristics of the general sample, andii) estimate, through efficiency equations, a Stochastic Frontier through econometric runs of different models (combining input and output variables)ii) Based on the previous points, build a ranking of companies according to their efficiency scores.It also involves achieving:- Determine from an objective sample of international companies that present similar characteristics to be compared based on their representative areas.- Identify factors that affect the representative areas of each of the companies in the sample.- Prepare a database containing information on the sector and companies, and apply the necessary adjustment factors to carry out the comparative evaluation under study.- Identify those variables and indicators that affect the regulated activity of companies.- Develop different benchmarking techniques that allow: * Develop partial productivity indicators, * Estimate operating cost functions, * Estimate non-technical loss and non-compliance functions, * Prepare rankings of comparative efficiencies.- Carry out an analysis of the historical evolution of the indicators of partial productivity that are identified as relevant.- Evaluate the level of operating costs in a comparative way between the companies in the sample.- Identify the best practices at the international level.Below is an explanatory video.
