As an Electrical Engineer at Apeel, I have been involved in a wide variety of projects.I currently am the Technical Lead for produce quality sensor development projects. I leverage my expertise to guide our mechanical and software engineers in the development of new systems for field- and lab-based data collection. Additionally I am a resource for PCB design, part selection, firmware/software design, mechanical prototype design, testing, and manufacturing.I also have spent significant time with industrial control systems for our application technology. I have worked to define architectures for electrical panels and IO systems, organize the production of these systems with contractors, and have implemented a full HMI/PLC setup for a prototype process unit using LabView.

At SBIS, I was the firmware lead for their portfolio of next-generation endoscopic camera systems which utilize FPGAs for real-time video capture, processing and analysis. I regularly worked with high-speed DDR memory interfaces, DVI, DisplayPort and general clocked video interfaces, SERDES channels, SPI, and I2C.I greatly impacted SBIS's firmware workflow by implementing version control on all existing and new code, and by developing a custom build environment to provide other teams with consistent documentation and tracking for new releases. Additionally, I also took responsibility for facilitating our weekly hardware group meetings. I tracked team tasks and progress, lead discussions about current issues and initiatives, and liaised between management, marketing, and the hardware group.I also spent time wearing other hats within the business: I wrote embedded software to interface with custom FPGA components and assisted with hardware development, DFM, prototyping, and testing.

At Kollmorgen I co-engineered motion control solutions using embedded processors and FPGAs, high speed memory, multiple switching power supplies, and interfaces including gigabit Ethernet, high speed serial, PCI, PCIe, CAN, SD cards, and USB.My main responsibilities included schematic level design of new products, managing the multi-layer PCB design process, hardware testing to ensure quality and functionality, engineering process improvement, manufacturability analysis, AVL maintenance, Python scripting, Verilog development and simulation, C# development for internal tools, and technical documentationI leveraged my communication and proactive engagement skills working with an engineering team that is distributed around the world, as well as suppliers and manufacturers. In between my main tasks, I took on small engineering projects such as designing cases for prototypes and laying out small interface boards which provided valuable assistance to various teams within the company.Additionally, in an effort to foster a fun and engaging office environment, I helped lead the planning of various office-wide events and participated in recruitment efforts by representing Kollmorgen at career fairs held at UCSB.

During my undergraduate education at UCSB I joined a research group and became a member of a two person team developing a platform for prototyping high-speed low-power control systems built using a novel filter framework based on Sigma-Delta modulation. Through this project I gained valuable experience with embedded systems and FPGAs. After a year and a half of independent development the design became our senior capstone project, where we used it as a basis to learn practical skills in project planning and management.

3 consecutive summer internships in the Broadband Systems Engineering group. Tested and troubleshooted customer hardware, performed semiconductor characterization, developed automated testing methodologies and scripts . Wrote custom application in C# to monitor in-house broadband video feeds in order to assist the lab team.
