About Daniel Krawczyk, Ph.D.

Dan is passionate about understanding the relationship between our brain and behavior. He has explored this interest for the past 20 years as a professor, author, and podcaster.In 2018 he authored the book Reasoning: The Neuroscience of How We Think and co-authored Understanding Behavioral BIA$: A Guide to Improving Financial Decision Making with hedge fund manager George Baxter in 2020. He is interested in understanding how the mind and brain influence our financial behavior.Dr. Krawczyk completed his doctoral training at the UCLA in cognitive neuroscience in human reasoning and decision-making. He did his postdoctoral training at the University of California, Berkeley, where he focused on studying functional brain-imaging methods (fMRI) to better understand the neural basis of human cognition. In 2006 he joined the faculty at The University of Texas at Dallas in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences. Dr. Krawczyk is jointly appointed in the Psychiatry Department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He is the founding Debbie and Jim Francis Chair at the Center for BrainHealth in Dallas, TX where he also serves as the Deputy Director.
