UW-Stout has a solid school psychology program. Students from this program have gone to work in many regions of the country. I lead classes in psycho-educational disabilities, psychometrics, behavioral interventions, and lifespan development. My professional curiosities;the connection between cognitive abilities and its influence on reading and mathschool neuropsychologyconcussion and head injury and their long term effectsapplied behavior analysisBefore coming to Stout and even more so since. my area of developing interest is with concussion. Being a school psychologist, I am interested in the effects of concussion on childhood learning and behavior. I have also had the opportunity to become involved in a research team, C-NERVE. This team is an undergraduate initiative that seeks to understand about the functions of the brain. The specific research group that I am in is interested in repeated head impacts during the high school years and what it means later in life. This group is led by great faculty in the Psychology Department with collaboration with a physics professor. My goal is to work with nearby schools to increase concussion awareness, assessment, and support of individuals with head injuries in school. A parallel professional interest is in the area of applied behavior analysis and integrated the principles in schools to foster academic and behavioral improvement with children.
