I received my Bachelor and Master of Science in Computer Science at the University of Freiburg. My Bachelor's thesis is about augmented reality games (virtual mini golf). In my Master's thesis I worked on exploration of objects in unknown environments using a robotic manipulator to push object candidates. The approach singulated objects and created 3D point clouds of all movable objects. Currently, I'm working in the "Autonomous Intelligent Systems" group of Prof. Wolfram Burgard (University of Freiburg) as a PhD candidate. My work focuses of manipulation planning, robot control, brain-machine interfaces (BCI) and human-robot interaction. In our recent work we presented an autonomous robotic service assistant that is controlled by a BCI. It is able to fetch, carry, drop and manipulate objects, pouring liquids and providing drinks to a paralyzed human. Therefore, the user only has to define a high-level goal as "Give me something to drink" using an intuitive graphical goal formulation framework which the user controls using his/her thoughts.
