East Bay Parks subsequent to the mountain bike trails project, offered another project-based internship to map invasive plants with a team. Similar efforts in the past had yielded sub-optimal results due to poor data management and data integrity. Reviewed the prior data collection and analysis efforts and identified areas of improvement. For example, EB Parks had been collecting data since 1989 with varying degrees of consistency (e.g. slopes and aspect of data were not accurate due to poor training and availability of tools to the data collectors who often used speculation rather than precise measurement to fill in the necessary information). Designed a work flow model that would take field data and accurately fill in the slope, aspect, county name, park name, as well as land cover classification using Python and the built in work flow software. I also helped train interns in plant identification and how to use ESRI software. I also helped supervise volunteers ranging from 3rd graders to high school seniors while using tools to mechanically remove invasive plants.

Briones Regional Park, Ca

I developed and executed a project to map illegal mountain bike trails that caused environmental damage and threatened safety of park visitors. I utilized orthoimagery, LiDAR, and GPS and cross-referenced the data from the various sources to ensure the source data collected was accurate. I performed analysis using Boolean functions combined with various other data points (e.g. soil, endangered plants and animals). The findings were presented to Board of Supervisors, Mountain Bike Task Force and Delta Unit Management at East Bay Parks. A secondary side project was mapping cellular phone service in the park.

I designed and tested ESRI Collector template to allow the RWC Fire Department to update hydrant, fire department connections, and standpipe locations. I also designed and tested an Open Data portal for the city. My current project is making Operations Dashboards for better communication with the public.

Utilizing high resolution aerial imagery to detect and tag ground targets. After tagging, the targets are categorized and reviewed. After the review process they are geo-tagged and it they are all compiled into a .csv file with the target location and characterization. The spreadsheets are then sent off to costumers along with corresponding output files and snippets.

I used orthoimagery to analyze olive orchards and predict approximate crop yields in order to estimate the tonnage of olive waste that could be converted into bio-fuel.

I was a type 1 fire fighter. I maintained fire readiness of equipment, buildings, and self while training new firefighters in first aid, map reading, and fire weather. I also drove a type 3 fire engine and ran the pumps, and coordinated water tender operations to ensure adequate water supply.
