I have 40 years of Voc Rehab and American Sign Language Experience here in Alaska. I love traveling around this state and seeing all types of people in very diverse settings. I would like to continue making a positive impact with the people of Alaska using my Voc. Rehab. services and supports. I've also taught ASL at the University of Alaska Fairbanks for twenty two years. It is my belief that much of the affects of isolation and lack of opportunity that Deaf and Hard of Hearing people of Alaska experience are a result of ignorance and a lack of awareness by the general community as a whole. As an example of this I see that Deaf people who use ASL as their main form of communication can be excluded from many of the resources that our modern society has to offer in terms of access to information and programs that promote greater opportunity. If more people in general became open to ASL and familiar with the Deaf Community this would increase awareness and options, thus opening up a lager network of resources and possibilities for our ASL using citizens. I believe we are all socially responsible to care for the very young, the poor and the disabled members of our society, without prejudice. And to this end that is why I am proud to serve of the Alaska Deaf Council representing the interior of Alaska.Specialties: Fluid in American Sign Language, especially with Native Alaskans. I currently run a Voc Rehab Company that focuses on Workers Compensation and injured workers in the interior and northern regions of Alaska. We are currently the largest service providers in this region for this group.
