Using Java, I design and build Native AWS applications to facilitate the booking, planning, and execution tracking of freight movements. My team exposes Amazon's transportation offering to external shippers, which generates profit for truck movements that would otherwise be empty trailers.

Using C++, I develop embedded Linux applications. Using Yocto, I created an embedded Linux OS and filesystem format that reduced the boot time from 17 seconds to under 1 second. Using Python, I developed a build server to introduce continuous integration (CI) to the development process.

Using C#, I design new automated software applications to reduce manufacturing cycle time and improve product yield. I improved manufacturing applications for sustaining products, and in one case improved yield from 67.8% to 89.4%. Using C++, I develop embedded firmware to generate images and display them on the product's screen. Using Nginx, Lua, and Python, I designed and implemented the HTTP interface used by manufacturing stations to interact with the product.

Using C++, I implement new code and support existing code for error handling and I/O virtualization on the PowerVM Hypervisor across multiple hardware releases. I create and enhance unit tests and automated tests to detect errors earlier in the development cycle. I debug customer and test team systems and design innovative solutions to increase the ease of use for Power Systems I/O. I filed a patent for a new I/O virtualization design, and led a summer intern to implement the design.

I worked on reducing cycle time and increasing yield for automated manufacturing stations. This included improving both hardware and software at the stations. I implemented a change that reduced the cycle time of a station from 30 minutes to 11.5 minutes. I also wrote a C# application using Visual Studio to monitor and compare the installed programs and test settings of manufacturing computers at multiple sites across the US.

I was in charge of labs for an introductory C/C++ programming course. I taught programming in a Linux environment and problem solving skills to many students that had various ways of thinking about a problem.

I wrote C++ code to enable rewritable card technology on current and future desktop printer models, without changing or adding any hardware. I also learned how to understand large collections of code written by many different people.

I worked with Electrical Engineers, Civil Engineers, and Environmental Specialists on a variety of projects, which involved collecting, analyzing, and presenting data. I created several Microsoft Excel programs, which automated analyzing data from the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and formatting reports. One such program turned a full week’s work into about 10 minutes.
