I was very fortunate to have had this job opportunity growing up. Some days, I worked in the scale house weighing in trucks going out of the stone quarry. Other days, I worked in the company's shop cleaning, greasing, or helping complete projects. I learned my way around basic tools as I was the tool hand to more experienced workers. I was also responsible for running the landscape depot when there was a vacancy in that position, which entailed operating a loader, driving a mason dump truck and being a sales representative. The most important thing I learned from this experience was to keep a clean shop and work place.

I manage a small time gas station as one man. I am the cashier and distributor. This company takes pride in serving the gas to the customer as a courtesy to older people and for the New Jersey regulars that are not accustomed to pumping their own gas. I am also responsible for the distribution of propane. It is an exciting job during busy summers. I have met and dealt with all sorts of people.

This is true American small business. The maintenance shop runs a three man operation with a boss, apprentice and a worker. Learning basic boat mechanics, electronics and maintenance. Completing team effort projects to restore boats. Working individually to make progress to the maintenance team's goals.
