I spent 6 weeks at ARUP’s London Office where I was apart of a structural team delivering the design of a high rise building in central london in phase 2 of the project, my work consisted of:-Carrying out a load takedown of the 10 story building for each column within the building-Carrying out a subsequent piling design and layout based upon the load takedown -Sizing steel-composite beams, cantilevers, columns and a dome structure using structural software such as GSA compos-Drafting sketches and markups for architectural/ geotechnical plans-Presenting work carried out in multidisciplinary meetings and taking on feedback in these meetings and incorporating this into the designs

I spent 3 months in Australia working for Partridge carrying out structural design, my work consisted of:-Carrying out the structural design for a variety of buildings/ sculptures/ retaining walls -Use of CAD programs such as SPACEGASS in order to calculate the capacity of static and dynamic structures-Use of concrete/ steel/ aluminium codes to aid in the structural design process-Attending several site inspections to verify that construction was carried out in accordance with the structural design-Involvement in the investigation into a retaining wall design which failed, determining if the fault of the wall came from its design or construction -Creation of several markups of structural designs to be given to and used by the client / contractor
