I enjoy being out in the world, and learning new things. For the past 11 years I've been lucky enough to combine the two interests with my work as a camp counselor. Whether it's teaching 9 and 10 year olds how to swim, or teenagers how to shoot a bow and arrow, I've trained, connected with, and been challenged by each new camper, each new student. Not only do I teach youth, but in this and various other positions I've also lead young adults as employees which requires the ability to connect with, motivate, and support them as they learn the ins and outs of their duties. I lead by example and encourage them to speak with myself and my colleagues to better improve their experience and ability, maximizing productivity and enjoyment of customer and employee.I hope to bring this passion with me into a more formalized education position. I'm currently getting first hand experience as I start my second year of substitute teaching and am learning from every classroom I visit, even as I impart the lesson of the day.Knowledgeable in the use of various classroom tools and programs, creating lesson plans for various subjects, and collaborating with peers.
