Supervise Giant Tiger’s customs and regulation department, and the employees. Monitor brokers duties and contracts. Responsible for yearly associate performance reviews. Responsible for self-clearance program. Customs clear PARS and RMD shipments daily. Make sure Giant Tiger is obtaining applicable tariff treatments. Provide duty rates to buyers on imported goods for their purchasing quotes. Ensure that Giant Tiger is compliant with guidelines set out by Other Government Departments i.e. Health Canada, DFATD, and CFIA. Prepare all B2 adjustments. Apply for duty-drawbacks and CITT advance rulings. Attended a number of seminars on Tariff Classification, NAFTA, Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, I.E. Canada’s annual Import Export conferences and I.E. Canada’s Food Forum. Responsible for shipping supplies to Giant Tiger’s Potsdam New York store. This included creating customs documentation, applying US HST codes, and regulatory documentation for the goods being sent. Responsible for fulfillment of CBSA’s requests for information. Three major projects I executed at Giant Tiger; redesigned the entire record keeping process. This included adding a NAFTA verification procedure. Implemented the self-clearance project. This has not only allowed Giant Tiger to take complete control of their customs declarations, but saved the company over fifteen thousand dollars a year. Created the regulations department; writing all processes, and teaching our buyers, and associates how it will be executed.
