I have found great interest in the "problems" that emerge from making measurements and predictions in geography. My personal favorite is the modifiable area unit problem (MAUP) which characterizes the different "answers" one receives by analyzing data in a particular way. I have worked with geographic information systems (GIS) and machine learning in order to gain a better understanding of the nature of the data. Soils are an invaluable resource that needs to be understood to provide for our increasing demands. I currently work at the intersection of GIS and soil science where each discipline enhances the other.
