About Daniel Lobo

Hi, I’m Daniel. I’m a Ph.D. student in sociology at the University of California-Berkeley, with specializations in political economy and the sociology of organizations and markets at the Haas School of Business. I study race, organizations, and the future of work. I’m particularly interested in how organizational hiring and evaluation processes can be optimized to improve productivity and talent management outcomes, and to reduce inequality. I use mixed-methods in my work, including interviews, surveys, and randomized experiments for causal inference. I am currently recruiting interview participants for my dissertation research, funded by the Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Innovation Fellowship. I am interested in talking to talent executives/hiring managers in finance, consulting, and tech about how they think about culture in their hiring strategy and practices.
