Hello there! My name is Daniel Segundo, and I am a junior at the University of Texas at Dallas studying Information Technology & Systems. I'm interested in working in the cybersecurity field.I graduated from Sunnyvale High School's Class of 2020 with the intent of studying Computer Science. In high school, I was a competitor on the UIL Computer Science team for all 4 years and a member of the robotics team for 2 years. During this time, I enjoyed learning the basics of coding and creating simple programming projects. I soon found out, however, that the engineering field wasn't necessarily my forte. The following spring, I opted to hop over to Information Technology as I believed it would better fit my career goals. Once I started classes at UTD's Jindal School of Management, I was certain Information Technology was the field for me.Currently, I work full-time at my local Petco as the lead of the aquatics department. I am responsible for managing the care of the aquatic animals, cleaning and maintaining their habitats, and achieving sales goals for the department. Previously, I was a sales associate with a penchant for helping customers with fish and reptiles. While I hadn't imagined I'd land in the world of pet retail, I've since gained invaluable experience in customer service, sales, and basic managerial skills.By the end of my junior year, I hope to land an internship related to the IT field. I plan to graduate with a bachelor's degree in Information Systems & Technology in 2024 and focus on a career in cybersecurity.
