One would be surprised at the automation that is in a sawmill, and I loved working on projects. Being involved with planning, execution, and refinement was greatly rewarding. During many projects I had the privilege to work with great OEM engineers and programmers, quality control, optimization engineers and great sales folk. Juggling the OEM's schedules, mill Management's schedules, working with our electrical contractor and coordinating work with my mill electricians was interesting to say the least! I entered the utility industry a few years ago and it is a huge change from leading controls at the sawmill I came from, but the utility industry has its challenges and rewards as well. Often folks see the lineman at the forefront of utility work, and I know they are a special group of individuals, but in this industry there is a lot of different skillsets working behind the scenes to make the power flow. One thing I know for sure, regardless of where you go and what avenue you follow in the electrical field, Ohm's law and Kirchoff's law are never far away!Migrating from Sub Maintenance to the Relay group has been awesome so far! Relay will be challenging but very rewarding. There's always something new to learn!
