I am responsible for day-to-day operations of the store location, including maintaining payroll, daily paperwork, inventory control, and setting an example of quality customer service for other employees to follow. I also act as a trainer for new employees in my store as well as managers and employees in new store locations that have recently been opened. Training includes product knowledge, customer satisfaction, “up-selling,” register use, and organizational techniques included in daily paperwork and filing.

I was responsible for maintaining shelf displays by resetting and restocking them on an as-needed basis. I was also responsible for being knowledgeable in the products I sold in order to encourage sales and inform customers. I had to maintain a friendly disposition and attitude with customers and had to know where products were in the building and lead customers to them as well as answer questions about products or locate someone who might have the answers that I did not.

I was responsible for teaching 10th and 12th grade English, including creating common assessments for the grades. I also taught English-based electives such as Creative Writing and Science Fiction/ Fantasy Literature, as well as non English-based electives like Debate and Drama. In all of my classes, the integration of technology involving the Laptop Initiative, utilizing iBooks and the programs they include to complete projects and assessments, was a major part of the daily classroom environment.
