Scheduled to leave the Armed Forces in September 2023.An experienced defence, telecommunications and projects professional that is currently working as part of a telecommunications engineering department in the system support section of the British Army, which deals with nationwide and international projects that are high profile and high risk, that can come up at a moments notice; with critical outcomes.I have progressed from entry-level to a leadership position whilst studying full time and now have responsibility for managing projects, delivering results to industry standards and mentoring upcoming staff. As part of this role I manage a team of between 3-7 Communication Infrastructure Engineers. These engineers deal with projects relating to the maintenance, restoration and implementation of fibre optic networks, copper wiring within networks and overall maintenance of infrastructure on sites of national security importance. One of the most enjoyable parts of my role is liaising with civilian contractors and Ministry of Defence contractors to make sure that all standards are met, and all processes are carried out correctly in the implementation of tasks but most importantly that the client is happy and productive with the project outcome once live.

The installation of several new 42U cabinets in several different sites around the camp, whilst adhering to JSPs (604 & 440) and industry standards (BSEN/ISO) This was a 7-person job, with the help of the CMIS team already out there providing assistance when asked.From here I was posted to key projects both nationwide and internationally.Lance Corporal, 18th Signal Regiment, British ArmyInstallation Technician Class 2 – 2IC 2nd In Command/ Crew Member, 18th Signal Regiment, Poole, EnglandI was recommended by 241 Squadron for a large scale, long term and high profile project to provide two up to date areas capable of sustaining over 20 users each, and providing inter linking communications for the rest of the site. - Whilst doing this, as 2nd In Command/Assistant Supervisor, I had to keep a constant eye on what stores were required, any issues we encountered and any records that needed doing. - The high profile project required fully fitted out rooms to the highest specifications and finish, ranging from 'Official' sensitive to 'Secret; level and separating both as per regulations in the limited space we had per room, whilst also adhering to Industry standards (BSEN/ISO), military standards (JSP 604 & 440) and SCIDA.

    Lance Corporal, British Army Training Unit, Kenya, AfricaInstallation Technician – Class 2 Sole Installation Technician Whilst stationed with the 241 Signal Squadron in Bicester, England, I was asked to the support with projects at the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) and all the satellite sites associated with it. - I was tasked with familiarising myself with all 3 sites I managed, the key projects handed over, making sure they were running smoothly and planning tasks. - My main responsibilities consisted of the maintenance of the installed infrastructure, the restoration/purchase of any degraded cabling or equipment and liaising with the Foreman of Signals in any upcoming plans which I was needed. - My time there was spent predominantly fixing faults, input as the SME on any Installation technician related issues for the Foreman and patching select cabling for the deployment of the incoming battlegroups.

    Installation Technician Class 2 – Crew MemberBritish Army Training Unit, Brunei, South East Asia- Upon promotion to LCpl I was posted to 10th Signal regiment, 241 Signal Squadron, this was a fast-paced squadron which had taskings/projects from all over the world on a weekly to monthly basis. - After turning up I was eager to hit the ground running and was allocated on the first project I could get.- Assigned to a 6-person team on a surge to Brunei to maintain, repair and establish new infrastructure and potential scope for a new exchange for the Medical Centre. - The vast majority of tasks in Brunei were just cable maintenance, patching and small amounts of trunking being replaced in challenging environments. - My biggest success in managing projects here was the site review, effectively planning where the new cabling was going, how to get it there and what stores would be needed in the future. - This was all done in accordance with industry standards (BSEN/ISO) and complying with JSP 404 and JSP 440.

During this time, I also went on a 6-month overseas tour (secondment) of BFSAI (British Forces South Atlantic Islands).
