Academy Coach
CurrentI have spent the past four years working for Challenger as an Academy Trainer in the USA and Canada coaching children from 2–18 years old. This has involved researching, planning and implementing engaging coaching sessions for a vast range of ages and abilities. Last year I spent the Fall working in Rhode Island with North Kingstown Soccer Association and the Spring season with Chelmsford Youth Soccer. During this time I coached various age groups, 7 days a week, as well educating volunteer coaches on how to plan and deliver soccer sessions enabling them to run their own programmes more effectively. Before that I spent 3 seasons working with Madison Youth Soccer Club developing a structured curriculum to maximise the potential of both competition and recreational players. As well as my team commitments I also offered additional goalkeeping sessions open to all players within the club. During the summer seasons, I work as a Camp Director for Challenger having managed over 30 separate summer camps delivering a fun and exciting camp curriculum to well over 900 children. My role includes supervising Challenger coaches ensuring they deliver high quality and engaging sessions throughout the camp. I liaise with parents, host families and club officials to ensure things run smoothly. Whilst in Canada I also assisted the Regional Directors in running camp logistics ensuring staff had the correct vehicles, expenses, travel itineraries and timely arrivals and departures, alongside my camp director duties.During the winters back in the UK I have been coaching for AFC Fylde helping build relationships with schools and nurseries as part of their community foundation. I deliver curriculum Physical Education lessons, soccer coaching sessions, lunch time activity clubs and after school extra-curricular sports clubs. Last year I worked on their ‘youth offenders’ team where I engaged with young people helping them rehabilitate back into the community.
