Senior Structural Engineer
Responsible for managing three construction quality inspection teams performing detailed inspections of facilities under construction inside 50 US military bases in Northern Afghanistan. Teams deployed to remote military bases, performed structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and power distribution inspections, and produced detailed inspection reports. Inspections were conducted to ensure that on-going construction work met all code requirements including the International Building Code, International Plumbing Code, and the National Electric Code. Every inspection, including travel and reporting was completed within one week of notification by the client. Over 200 inspections were performed annually. As the manager, I was responsible for reviewing and approving every report, and conducting weekly meetings with US Army officers to review the inspection findings and provide technical solutions and recommendations.

Client was the US Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District. This project was a $21 million design-build project to construct an office building for the US Army in Afghanistan. I was responsible for overseeing all subcontractor’s field activities, ensuring compliance with all code, quality and safety issues necessary to complete the construction project safely, within budget and on schedule.

Responsible for engineering design and technical support during construction projects inside sixty-two military bases in Northeastern Afghanistan. Responsible to ensure that all designs were completed safely, and in accordance with project specifications and applicable code requirements. Projects provided US military personnel, with water treatment, wastewater treatment and solid waste incineration facilities. Projects complied with all code requirements from the International Building Code, National Electric Code and DOD seismic design details. Projects ranged in size from $25,000 up to $15MM. Completed more than twenty projects during this two year deployment to Afghanistan.
