Directly supported Department of Defense (DoD) client leadership with its project optimization efforts. Specifically, I worked with various teams to compile data and develop KPIs in order to strengthen quality control and provide greater transparency on supply chain management and overall program performance.As a result, we reduced the number of weekly meetings, increased the accuracy of timelines to meet DoD customer requests, and improved internal communication processes.

Returned to SOSi's corporate office and worked directly for the Vice President to help optimize program performance of a globally reaching business unit. Specifically, I developed multiple dashboards and databases to collect metrics, identify performance shortfalls, and establish key performance indicators for programs stretching across the Middle East. Additionally, I improved communication with cross-functioning teams, both domestically and internationally, by introducing new data collection processes and reporting procedures that were later implemented.

Middle East

Worked in SOSi’s Program Management Office (PMO) in Baghdad, Iraq, to manage two, separate multi-million dollar, multi-year U.S. Government contracts that operated out of the U.S. Embassy – Baghdad. Responsibly managed 21 personnel, carefully monitored the respective budgets, and oversaw all contractual deliverables. Frequently met with and consulted senior U.S. military personnel on how to mature operations, resolve unexpected issues, and drive down costs in various areas of both contracts. As Program Manager, I led SOSi to receive consistent “Exceptional” and “Very Good” performance ratings on three annual U.S. Government Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS) reports for Quality, Program Management, and Cost Management. This was the first time SOSi received "Exceptional" for either contract, subsequently helping it compete on contracts similar in nature.

Middle East

Worked in SOSi’s PMO in Baghdad, Iraq, to gather knowledge of Iraq’s business environment and assist senior management to make strategic decisions on opportunities, and provide operational support for programs generating more than $200 million in combined annual revenue. This position required staying up-to-date on geopolitical events throughout the Middle East, as well as any relevant legislation passed by both the U.S. Government and Government of Iraq. This was critical in order to remain compliant, adjust to the ever-changing political dynamics, and gauge the potential implication(s) certain events/decisions could have on SOSi's operations.Additionally, I managed a team of three personnel and developed standard operating procedures and automated trackers to improve existing systems, promote consistency, and collect metrics to establish key performance indicators and identify performance shortfalls for many of the office's areas of responsibility, i.e. visa compliance, Baghdad International Airport (BIAP) operations, and supply chain management.

Worked in SOSi’s corporate office supporting the Mission Solutions Group (MSG) business unit's operations in Iraq. Reported directly to the Vice President, and held responsibilities, such as managing over $20 million in Foreign Military Sales (FMS) client and subcontract accounts, serving as the primary point-of-contact for respective client accounts, and drafting/editing statements of work, performance work statements, and proposals related to MSG's operations in Iraq. This role entailed periodic travel to the Middle East, interfacing with clients, and greatly enhanced my knowledge of both the defense industry and regional politics of the Middle East.

Provided executive support to Senior Vice President, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Frank Helmick, for the Mission Solutions Group business division. Coordinated and synchronized executive’s calendar for domestic and international travel, conferences, and speaking engagements. Scheduled and participated in high-level meetings related to current and future business development opportunities, project management review discussions, and financial performance reviews.

Returned to the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs: Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere. Further enhanced knowledge of the legislative process. Participated in several hearings pertaining to the Subcommittee's interests, assisted in drafting memoranda for hearings, and took part in meetings with foreign dignitaries and private-sector companies.

Interned with the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs: Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, which entailed in-depth research and a great deal of writing. Worked under the direct supervision of two policy advisors assisting in policy analysis and matters of interest to the Subcommittee. Monitored the security, political, and economic matters within the Hemisphere. Responsible for the preparation of three Subcommittee hearings by conducting research on the related topic, drafting memoranda, and formulating questions for Members.

Assisted attorneys on product liability cases. Responsible for scheduling court appearances, depositions, and researching discovery deadlines. Acted as the primary contact for clients, communicating with them by telephone or written correspondence to gather the necessary information for a favorable decision.

Honorably served as a Marine Corps infantryman, completing my enlistment at the rank of Sergeant. Nominated for two meritorious promotion boards, per commanding officers. Served three combat deployments to the Middle East; two of which were to Al-Anbar, Iraq, completing more than 350+ counter-insurgency missions. Personal awards: Combat Action Ribbon, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.
