I am a motivated and independent student living in North Yorkshire, and my interests include politics, aviation and economics. My experience in politics and economics includes being the winner of the 2024 Kavita Singh Essay Competition Politics category (St Hugh's College, University of Oxford) and a runner up in the Brasenose College Oxford MASSOLIT Video Essay Competition, as well as the winner of the Economasters Essay Competition. I am also a campaign volunteer for the Liberal Democrats, as well as an ex-founding member of the Harrogate Youth Council. In the long term, I am definitely considering a career in politics, economics and their associated fields.Alongside full-time education I have completed my BGA Bronze Endorsement and BGA Cross Country Endorsement, making me a qualified glider pilot, and I am currently working towards my FAI Silver Certificate. I have entered the Competition Enterprise in July and am competing in various other gliding competitions throughout 2024. Outside of gliding I have held an instructing qualification in the Air Cadets since 2023, where I was an aeronautics instructor with the Central and East Yorkshire Wing Aerospace Team. At school, I founded and chair the Aviation Society. I have experience organising large events with my band Yellow Number Five, and I have been a drummer for 11 years. I fundraised for and attended the 2023 World Scout Jamboree as an Assistant Patrol Leader, having been a scout for 10 years at that point, and also helped with the outreach programme for the next generation of scouts thinking of attending a Jamboree. For my actions at the World Scout Jamboree I was awarded the County Commissioner’s Commendation Award. I consider myself to be focussed, hard working and a good team worker, and I am always generally either reading a good book or looking for the next challenge!
