Hi I'm Daniel McComas. I love problem solving, low level programming, and computer hardware. Almost anything technical or engineering related is interesting to me, and I love learning about new subjects, fields, and problems that need to be solved.I'm currently a Computer Engineering major at the University of Texas at Arlington, and I also have a physics minor that I'm currently working on as well.I have extensive working experience and knowledge of the Windows ecosystem spanning MS-DOS all the way to Windows 11. I've used and built computers as old as Intel Socket 7 machines, all the way up to the newest Intel and AMD platforms. I've built somewhere over 25 or so computers for friends, not counting the amount of time I spent rebuilding my own throughout my formal education experience.I also have an extremely solid foundation in Linux fundamentals and CLI usage since I started experimenting with and Archlinux on my server in 2019. I currently run Linux as my main operating system, and have experience setting up containerized and virtualized environments using Docker, Kubernetes, and KVM.I also have experience with JTAG flashing interfaces and FTDI cards for flashing microcontrollers, such as a Gotek floppy drive and an FPGA.My programming experience with C is also solid, including writing dyanmically allocated hashmaps and reading through / working with low level C code on a raspberry pi to access hardware through the GPIO header. Additionally I've written code to modify a low level operating system called EGOS-2000.I've also worked with Java to write simple programs, as well as dabbling with writing Minecraft Mods. I have a good grasp of Object Oriented programming concepts, such as encapsulation, interfaces, polymorphism, ineritance, and UML diagrams.I have strong and ample experience with electronics and embedded systems, and have built an autonomous robot. As past hobbies I've also done a lot of automotive work including a partial engine rebuild.
