Customs Consultant
CurrentKey Responsibilities and Duties• Consult with clients and non-clients via meetings, phone, or email to provide guidance on customs laws and regulations, both current and proposed• Advise and represent clients in appeals to the Canada Border Services Agency regarding Trade Compliance Verification Reports and Direct Compliance Letters• Develop and deliver educational materials on various customs compliance topics• Seek opportunities to promote the Livingston Consulting Group to clients and potential clients• Generate new revenue for the company• Manage, plan, and direct projects and activities with an annual income of over $750,000• Prepare consulting proposals for clients, including compliance analysis reports, USMCA, valuation analysis reports, and other services• Develop standard operating procedures for customs compliance for various imports• Provide tariff classification services• Provide services related to CPTPP, CETA, USMCA and other free trade agreements in relation to compliance, rule of origin verification, applicability, and solicitation (FTA certification creation and ratification) resulting in over $500,000 in revenue annually• Prepare customs valuation verification reports• Manage dispute settlement and drawback administration• Provide expertise on excise taxes, duty liability, and value added tax liability related to customs transactions• Conduct customs transaction entry audits• Assist with SIMA (anti-dumping and countervailing duty) evaluations• Manage duty recover programs based on various Chapter 99 tariff codes (End User Certification, tariff code qualification) resulting in over $200,000 in revenue annually• Prepare and submit Advanced Customs Ruling applications• Ensure compliance and create reports with regards to forced and child labor (Bill S-211) reporting requirements• Assist with Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) appeals• Research and complete same/similar analysis for audit adjustments
