My carrier in aviation as an avionics technician began with deHavilland Aircraft, Downsview, Ont. in 1982While at deHavilland, I gained experience on Beavers, Twin Otters, Buffalo, Dash 7 and Dash 8 aircraft. My work as well included time at Air BC in Vancouver and at NavAir back in Toronto. In 2001 I attempted Air traffic Control training but was unsuccessful but a year later was hired on in the training dept. and then moved to my current position in the Air Traffic Operation Specialist department in 2003. In 2012 I volunteered for a newly implemented peer support program that assists employees who are battling a mental illness, and in 2014 I joined a second peer support program that helps employees through the aftermath of a critical incident. Recently, have been preforming the role of acting supervisor, helping to restart this position after it being removed over 10 years ago. Enjoying the different challenges and training that comes with the position, and hoping to leave a positive impact when my supervisor term is up in July. I enjoy the interaction with other teams we work with, and building bridges across work units to enhance understanding between each, to improve inter unit relations and cooperation. My interests outside of work include building and flying radio controlled aircraft, model rocketry, photography and outdoors activities, such as canoeing. I am experimenting with autopilots and aerial video with model aircraft drones and hope to get more involved with this.
