Mr. McKinnon serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Proof Authentication, Corp. ("Proof"). Proof is a technology company engineering the world’s premier anti-counterfeiting authentication solutions. Proof is founded on the cornerstone principle that effective authentication technologies must always be accurate and ubiquitous. Prior to his work at Proof, Mr. McKinnon was the Head of Global Brand Protection for New Balance where he was responsible for New Balance’s counterfeit enforcement, protection and prevention strategies on both a domestic and international level. Mr. McKinnon was noted for leading New Balance in achieving the world’s highest IP damages award in the history of China (reported by The New York Times, BBC, Fortune Magazine, etc.), as well as helping New Balance win the prestigious 2018 WTR Industry Award for Best Corporate Brand Protection Team (APAC). (New Balance was also one of just five teams nominated for the 2018 Global Brand Protection Team of the Year). Mr. McKinnon is an often quoted IP expert in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes Magazine, Fortune Magazine and other well known global media outlets. He is a four-time (2017-2020) WTR300 Global IP Counsel selection, and continues to lecture on the topic of "Best Practices in Counterfeit Enforcement" throughout Asia as well as various places within the United States, including Harvard University, INTA (2019, 2021), Consero Group, AAFA, Marcus Evans Global IP Summits, and IQPC, just to name a few. Prior to joining New Balance, Mr. McKinnon was a practicing attorney in the State of Rhode Island. Mr. McKinnon received his LLM in Intellectual Property from The George Washington University School of Law, where he was awarded Highest Honors on his IP Thesis. He earned his JD from Villanova University and his AB in economics from Bowdoin College where he also Captained the Men's Basketball team.
