* Served as mayor’s interim communications director; drafted speeches, press statements, and developed media opportunities; participated in weekly city leadership meetings; offered media guidance to city department heads.

* Developed messaging and digital engagement strategies for progressive, national issue advocacy groups and political leaders. Clients included: Coalition on Human Needs, Economic Policy Institute, Issue One, Open the Government, Social Security Works, Social Security Works PAC, and Zuckerman for Vermont.

* Worked to bolster U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders’ profile as one of the nation’s most prominent progressive voices; directed efforts to engage Vermonters through traditional media and online resources.* Created comprehensive communications plans to build grassroots support to advance policy goals: planned press conferences, wrote reports, and helped organize legislative hearings and town meetings to focus public attention and build support for legislation. * Served as an on-the-record spokesman in Vermont and helped craft the senator’s message. Drafted statements, op-eds, legislative testimony, talking points, press releases and social media campaigns. To help generate news coverage, built a localized database of personal stories to humanize complex policy battles.

* Staff writer charged with anchoring coverage for major business stories as well as providing an ongoing examination of the effects of a sluggish U.S. economy on Vermont; regularly participatedin editorial board meetings; contributor to USA Today.

* Full-time correspondent covering several Manchester suburbs and parts of southern New Hampshire. Reporting included extensive political coverage, including frequent reporting on the 2004 presidential primary. Presidential primary coverage includes campaigns of Gov. Howard Dean, Sen. John Edwards, Rep. Dennis Kucinich, and Sen. Joe Lieberman.
