Portrait sessions typically last 1-2 hours. Allowing this amount of time provides for a more variety of portrait compositions. It also allows more time for the subject to loosen up and relax, translating to more natural portraits.I take a minimalist approach to traditional posing, preferring to adapt to the animal’s behavior and rhythm than theirs to mine. While some posing is desirable, my favorite moments to capture are when the subject forgets that the camera and photographer are there. Those candid, informal and tender moments mean the most to me. Besides, being overly didactic and ordering everyone around doesn’t make for a very fun time!I prefer sessions to be on-location in an outdoor setting of the client’s choice. To me, scenic outdoor locations offer more exciting variations in lighting and a wider palette of colors, helping to keep things fresh and interesting. I also prefer calm, peaceful environments that minimize distractions and provide for a more intimate arrangement.
