Integrated Energy Modeling And Simulation Engineer
CurrentMy position focuses on dynamic simulation and analysis of thermally integrated nuclear reactors with non-electrical heat applications. My day-to-day activities include: Managing Department of Energy funded projects at Idaho National Laboratory within and with team members of the Integrated Energy Systems program.Supporting research engagement through presentations, meeting participation, project management, travel, and proposal writing with external organizations and potential research partners. Engaging across multiple organizational levels within the Integrated Energy Systems program to plan and manage execution of multi-year objectives supporting the Department of Energy. Mentoring junior staff including postdoctoral researchers, interns, and graduate fellows: guiding research objectives, professional development, and workplace involvement. Managing HYBRID Github modeling repository, a suite of models mainly constructed in the Modelica language with the focus of modeling and analyzing the thermodynamic operations of integrated energy systems. This has also included development of multiple training modules for multiple kinds of audiences and training times. Technical work focuses on dynamic simulation of integrated energy systems, open-source modeling of advanced nuclear reactor systems, thermal energy storage modeling and analysis, thermal integration design and analysis, uncertainty quantification, and experimental validation of digital models.
