Whip App is a start-up FinTech company and creator of an innovative app designed to enable seamless management of money and payments by users for group social events. I conceived and launched the new business and developed investor relationships to successfully secure six-figure investment to date.

As founder and senior business leader, I am accountable for all aspects of business strategy and operations including P&L performance, budget setting, forecasting, and long-term business planning - turnover £4m p.a.. Key achievements include:• Implementation of strategy that delivered a 100% increase in YOY turnover for 3 consecutive years from zero• Planning and managing a pipeline of vetted vehicle suppliers to ensure optimal stock levels of high quality vehicles• Developing and evolving the marketing strategy using specialist industry and market leading ecommerce platforms

The company provided commercial vehicles to courier companies and self-employed couriers across the UK, with 400+ vehicles in use by CitySprint, DPD, Amazon, Just Eat, Deliveroo, CityLink, Westone Cars, Addison Lee and Royal Mail. I held senior level accountability for the strategic and operational development of the business from initial start-up to turnover of up to £12m per year. Key highlights include:• Building a team of 9 office staff and creating a business culture that led to the retention of all member of staff from recruitment to close of business• Leading the business through significant periods of transformation resulting from changes in relevant legislation• Optimising P&L performance through rigorous analysis of vehicle, insurance and fuel card costs and charges• Managing all client marketing campaigns, articulating clear differentiators in a fiercely competitive industry• Implementing Prohire system for fleet management and co-produced an App that significantly improved reporting and management of driver incidents/accidents

The business is one of the largest private hire companies in the UK providing car and courier services, primarily in the London area. I was appointed by the CFO to lead creation and operation of an effective and compliance finance function and to provide hands-on leadership to the finance team following company transition to management ownership in 2010. Key deliverables included:• Identifying a business risk and proposing and negotiating delivery of a strategic solution that benefited all parties• Playing a vital role in the seamless transition to new ownership following acquisition with a focus on facilitating transfer of data and maintaining relationships with vehicle suppliers until new staff were appointed

The specialist market research agency employed ~75 staff working for UK-based manufacturers. As a senior manager, I led 3 finance professionals, oversaw all business suppliers and initiated a comprehensive procurement exercise to validate and optimise costs. Highlights included:• Meticulously analysing cost structures to identify significant cost savings and efficiency enhancements• Building consensus at Board level for a strategic transition to Access Suite Accounting software, which enabled all relevant employees with access to a balance sheet for each customer, fostering transparency• Building credible relationships with corporate bank manager and clients• Preparing monthly management accounts including prepayments, accruals, fixed asset register maintenance and disposals, and nominal ledger processing• Overseeing budgeting and cash flow forecasting and management• Playing a key role in preparing the due diligence pack essential for the company's sale and seamless transition to Savanta Research
