In this role I AM responsible for effectively managing the end to end network and solutions within the engineering department for Safaricom projects. As the engineering Manager I AM accountable for around 30 colleagues within the Real Time Operations area. The role is spread across 5 locations (Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, Naivasha, Narok & Kericho) with accountability for both day & shift teams. I AM responsible for the tactical & strategic management of the teams, ensuring maximum efficiency and customer service levels are met. The role also ensures delivery of strategic business targets with optimal operational performance. Managing multiple initiatives and also managing multiple demands & workflows, with challenging deadlines, priorities and resource allocations.Other duties include: Reporting against performance, finance status and resource commitmentDay to day team management (Manager and colleague objective setting, feedback reviews, Team Meetings, resource planning).Operational management, ensuring sufficient skilled resource in the right place to maximise operational efficiency.Escalation & Major Incident ManagementCustomer/3rd party liaison/overviews – delivering against KPI’s for customers and 3rd parties. • Planning and designing of drive test routes using MapInfo• Planning and allocation of Drive Test teams and resources• Monitoring of new and swapped sites performance using M2000• Responsible for Physical Optimization and Logical Optimization for KPI improvement like Overshooting, HOSR improvement,SD and TCH blocking• Resolving Customer complaint or suggesting solutions like Repeater or I.B.S.• Responsible for In-Building Solution planning and installation• Network Optimization for GSM, WCDMA • Analyzing KPI Reports taking care of SD and TCH Drop, SD and TCH Blocking, Handover Success Rate, Call Setup Success Rate as defined by customer• SSV, SSD & Cluster Optimization report and analysis of Drive Test Data.Part of requirement gathering session with client. • Overall Cluster performance analysis based on the drive test data and UE Traces analysis to find out the root cause of the various RF issues like poor Accessibility, poor Retainability.• Monitoring and suggesting the changes required in the parameter to improve the Various KPI’s: Accessibility, Retainablity and Identifying the Overshooting cells etc.• Package optimized RF WCDMA - RSCP, Ec/Io, BLER, Throughput, CQI etc & RRC Setup Failure Test (Idle to Active Call test)RRC connection request; RRC call drop; RRC connection success; RRC connection setup failure.• Daily RF Parameter audits to check the Network Consistency

- Planning, costing, allocation of resources and man power necessary to execute project.- Procure and manage the necessary procurements to ensure smooth flow of the project implementation.- Manage site build contractors and ensure timely and efficient site build implementation/Roll out.- Prepare project plans & Ensure roll out process meets key performance indicators of cost, quality and schedule.- Vet implementation documents, technical site survey reports, site drawings, soil test reports, Sweep test, VSWR test, DTF test, earthen test etc to ensure compliance to approved specifications.- Survey design and approve of LAN/WAN Networks to meet clients specifications.- Designing, Installing and commissioning customer installations using Wimax radios both outdoor and indoor for proper internet access.- Promoting, developing and extending the business of the company to meet company objectives and goals.- Planning costing and executing of projects to meet the desired clients KPI within the set time.- Design, Installation & commissioning of CCTV, IP cameras.- Configuration and testing of Cisco routers and switches before hand over of projects to the clients.- Design, Installation & testing of fiber optics cable network for our clients.- Performing tests and approval of the various network components to achieve optimal results.
