Research Master'S Degree StudentNui Galway Sep 2013 - Sep 2014The focus of the masters is to develop a technique to extract reduced order models (ROMs) directly from computational fluid dynamics (CFD) solutions through numerical algorithms and user defined constrains. The motivation for developing this technique is due to the low computational cost and run time. ROM’s can easily be integrated into a Building Energy Management Systems strategy (BEMS). This ability to rapidly model numerous different configurations for a given room or building will allow the BEMS to accurately predict the effect of natural ventilation on the space which will improve its efficiency and reduce energy costs.
