As the General Manager QinetiQ Consulting Services, I was responsible for a team of 50 employees and multiple sub-contractors and for overseeing, motivating and managing all aspects of the business’ performance, profitability, business development, client relationships, people and culture. Core services of the Consulting business include the provision of change management, project management and procurement and contracting services to the Australian Defence Organisation, CSIRO, Australia Post and industry.I was also a member of the QinetiQ Australia Leadership team with responsibility for driving corporate growth: • Total accountability for performance of a $15M pa revenue business. Since taking over leadership in November 2010, orders and revenue grew in excess of 40%. • I established new business lines and the processes necessary to support them. With a focus on procurement and contracting and engineering services, the maritime component of the business grew by over 200% to $5M per annum. A Security offering was also created in response to a gap in the market in relation to the provision of protective security policy advice which generated over $1M in revenue in under 18 months. • I also recognised the need to provide risk management and surge capacity to the core team. A network of trusted suppliers as part of the QinetiQ Collaborative Environment (QCE) was created in response to this situation. The QCE is supported by a full management system (quality, contract and project management). This network of subject matter experts acts as a force multiplier for the business and reduces risk as new services are tested within the market.

I was a Board member during the transition of a totally volunteer based organisation to the establishment of a full time CEO and supporting staff. As a member of the committee, I produced the strategy and transition plan to ensure a successful transition. The SIAA is now Simulation Australia and has gone from strength to strength.

Rapid Protoyping Development and Evaluation (RPDE) is a joint Defence-Industry program. The program has an operating budget of $14M. Each delivery activity within the program is designed to deliver a step-change in capability, across the fundamental inputs to capability, for rapid incorporation into ADF warfighting capabilities. I am responsible for the delivery function within RPDE.
