Departmental staff management and training, strategic planning, advising on facilities and infrastructural development, budgeting, procuring and ensuring prudent spending, students admission, orientation and culturing. Laying academic structures.Responsibilities:-Ensuring departmental compliance with the Academy’s policies and with Ministry of Education’s guidelines on registration and safety standards.-Formulating departmental policies and sitting in the policy committees.-Chairing Students Life Departmental and Forms Coordination Meetings and sitting in the Academic Board Meetings.-Participating in vetting, hiring and orientation of new staff. -Performance appraisal and professional development of the teaching staff. -Mentoring and providing leadership to staff members.-Preparing and mapping out pastoral activities for each term such as trips exchange programmes and community service.-Establishing networks, management and follow up of the progress in the exchange programmes.-Preparation of Academic departmental budget and developmental plans.- Admission and overseeing settling in and integration of learners with each other, school structures and staff members.-Ensuring Child protection and and pastoral care policies and practice are up to internationally acceptable standards.-Guiding, counselling and offering leadership to students during their stay in the Academy.-Ensuring an all inclusive environment for all learners.-Learners induction and internalisation of the Academy’s core values, Vision and Mission statements as well as school riders.- Ensuring timely requisitioning and acquisition of students’ supplies.-Advising on the facilities and infrastructural requirements in the Academy.-Setting PSHE (Personal, social and Health Education) curriculum for Form Period.-Behaviour management-Conceptualising and implementation of motivational programmes.-Establishment of academic structure in the Academy.

This school was a start up run by Catholic Nuns, which I joined when the pioneer class was at form 3. As the most experienced staff member, my tasks were: -Advising on personnel management in the school. -Advising management on developmental areas. -Overseeing development of school culture, academic excellence, co-curricular activities and necessary facilities and infrastructure in the start up project. -Acting Deputy Principal in absence of the Deputy Principal. -Time tabling -Taking part in Teachers’ vetting and hiring process. -Participating in the marketing and students’ admission panels -Guiding the election of prefects’ body -Training and motivating the students’ leaders -Behaviour management. -Ensuring school’s compliance with the ministry’s guidelines and safety standards.

ACTIVITIES -Teaching Mathematics -Teaching Computer Studies. -Preparing student for examinations -Maintaining school computers -Guiding students in final computer projects.Achievements:-Taught, designed and implemented the creation of computer studies department. -Successfully presided over (as the chief technician) assembly of computers donated annually by Leigh High University to schools in Meru.
