Daniel brings to The Smith Center more than 30 years of professional fundraising and financial services experience. Prior to joining The Smith Center, Daniel provided a depth of strategic counsel to nonprofit organizations across the country and in Las Vegas. His work with organizations throughout his career has yielded some of the most successful and comprehensive multilevel, regional and national fundraising programs and campaigns, raising well over a billion dollars for capital and operational needs.Daniel came to The Smith Center after serving as the Chief Development & Finance Officer for The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas. There he not only implemented initiatives to substantially grow operating revenue, but also led the successful effort to complete the Mission: Possible 2020 All of Us for All of Them $35M comprehensive campaign for the new Engelstad Foundation Adoption Center, renovations of the existing Lied Animal Shelter and lifesaving program support.In addition to Daniel’s years in successfully leading his own fundraising firms and as Executive Vice President with one of the largest national fundraising organizations in the US, Daniel has served as President, Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer for international investment banking and investment management organizations. He began his professional career as a Certified Public Accountant.Daniel is recognized for his ability to listen, assess an organization’s needs and provide highly effective strategic operational, fundraising and financial solutions. He is also a nationally recognized thought leader in fundraising as demonstrated through his teaching, speaking engagements, published writings and webinars.Daniel graduated from Texas A&M University with a BBA degree in accounting. Daniel and his wife, Lee, also stay busy with their world-champion Frisbee dogs, Jessie and Xena.

With The Animal Foundation, Daniel not only implemented initiatives to substantially grow operating revenue, but also led the successful effort to complete the Mission: Possible 2020 All of Us for All of Them $35M comprehensive campaign for a new adoptions and education center, renovations of the existing shelter, and lifesaving program support. At the same time, he directed the acquisition of $14M in tax-free bonds to launch the construction project.In addition to directing the finance and fundraising areas, Daniel also served as a member of the Executive Team, leading the charge to set the strategic direction and achieve the mission of the organization. His ability to dive deeply into the data led to new insights and strategic direction to help effectively grow existing programs and add new ones. Daniel also spearheaded strategic initiatives to remove barriers for pet adoptions, create new lifesaving programs, and acquire the resources necessary to accomplish Mission: Possible 2020.
