I oversee an international team of four located in the U.S. and Hong Kong responsible for examining factories which manufacture apparel, footwear and hardgoods in many countries across the world. I review audits to identify and communicate risks associated with these factories to executive management team. I regularly liaise with merchants and vendors regarding applicable concerns, reviewing all new vendors to ensure they meet social compliance objectives. I draft SOPs to improve departmental efficiency, and oversee daily operations of conflict minerals management. I actively participate in multiple working groups which examine trends within social compliance, corporate social responsibility, responsible sourcing, sustainability, and conflict minerals. I continuously strive to promote diversity and inclusion throughout the organization.Here are a few of my accomplishments:• Overhauled social compliance program to align with company’s strategic mission, and rewrote policies and procedures to streamline social compliance audits. Spearheaded the use of an external auditing company to complete audits, significantly decreasing travel expenses and allowing team to focus on remediation of issues discovered during audits. • Established a process to accurately identify location of factories which manufacture product for the company, significantly increasing information regarding these locations.• Developed and implemented a process to report pertinent information to executives monthly.• Established a training curriculum to aid vendors and factories struggling with compliance. This mitigated concerns and resulted in more effective communication, and further clarified steps necessary to attain results expected by the company. • Redesigned conflict mineral policies to increase efficiency and accuracy of execution, identifying specific guidelines which made it possible to report vendors who are not in compliance.

In this role, I integrated a social compliance strategy for the company across all business lines while conducting audits (internal/external investigations and research) to validate compliance at the company’s production locations. In this role I led a team in Malawi, formulating and implementing strategic plans for the organization. Established working partnerships with non-governmental organizations to achieve organizational goals. I taught college courses at the African Bible College in Lilongwe, Malawi. I mentored college and high school students who were adjusting to life away from home, and provided leadership and faith-based guidance.Selected Accomplishments:• Appointed director of a microenterprise tile manufacturing company in Malawi. Guided and oversaw all aspects of business, managed factory staff, collected debts, and partnered with other organizations to achieve company goals. Ultimately negotiated successful sale of the employee-owned business.• Developed and implemented a training program for future collegiate leaders in Malawi through a partnership with a preferred non-governmental organization. Created fundraising materials and guidelines to sustain the program in this location, raising more than $100,000.
