I founded Destination Strategies Ltd. in late 2017 to provide both short-term and long-term consultancy services to government trade and investment agencies in developed countries and emerging markets. Clients to date have included Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs), advisory firms and institutes in the UK, continental Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

I have led or contributed to World Bank and IFC assignments with government clients in: Azerbaijan, Sri Lanka, India, South Africa, Ethiopia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Mongolia, Fiji and the Solomon Islands. Countries and assignments have included:1. Indonesia and the Pacific:- Led investor outreach campaigns and teams in 3 tourism destinations across Indonesia: more than 50 active investment leads nurtured, of which more than 20 leads were committed. - Led investor outreach campaigns and teams for Investment Fiji in tourism and related sectors.- Co-led a comprehensive FDI capacity building programme for officials from 12 countries across the Pacific2. Ethiopia:- Led an 11-course FDI Capacity Building Programme for 50 officials from the Ethiopian Investment Commission, Industrial Parks Development Corporation and Regional Investment Commissions 3. Azerbaijan:- Co-authored an FDI 'sector scan' and agribusiness deep-dive, assessing feasible and desirable sectors and subsectors for FDI attraction in Azerbaijan.- Technical guidance to the Azerbaijan Export & Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) on its FDI strategy4. Sri Lanka:- FDI strategy development (2017-2020) for Sri Lanka's Board of Investment. Advice and inputs provided on: competitive benchmarking; sector and market prioritization; setting targets; organizational realignments and aftercare.5. South Africa:- FDI institutional set-up assessments and advice to South Africa's national and sub-national FDI agencies6. Mongolia:- Technical assistance to the National Development Agency, Ministry of Food, Agriculture & Light Industry and other national and sub-national government entities on strategic investment promotion planning.- Co-speaker at the 2018 Mongolian Economic Forum, alongside the President of Mongolia.7. Vietnam:- Strategic inputs on Investment Promotion Reform- Capacity building workshops for the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Foreign Investment Agency

I led the Investment Planning workstream for the ARISE+ Indonesia project - a five-year trade support facility funded by the EU. I worked with key Indonesian Government entities, including the National Development Planning Ministry (BAPPENAS), the Ministry of Investment/BKPM and the Ministry of Trade. The role combined leading and delivering technical inputs, alongside managing the work of experts and contracted organisations. Key assignments included:- An Attraction Plan for EU Investment in Indonesia - aligning Indonesian Government and EU Global Gateway sectoral and thematic priorities and opportunities.- A Sector Prioritisation Study for Investment- An Electronics Sector Deep-Dive for Investment- 'Grand Design' Strategic Plans for Export Acceleration, Investment and Economic Cooperation- An Assessment of Indonesia's Carbon Trading System- An Investor Perceptions Study- An Assessment on Ecosystems and Institutions for Investment- Investment visits to Europe

I was appointed by the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) and the EU Delegation in Jakarta to lead on the development of a Position Paper on the EU-Indonesia "Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement" (CEPA). The position paper outlines the concerns and recommendations of European companies doing business (or seeking to do business) in Indonesia and is structured to reflect the various chapters being negotiated under CEPA, from Trade in Goods and Services, to Investment, Government Procurement, Intellectual Property Rights and other areas.Tasks included:• Developing and overseeing the research program with EuroCham Indonesia• Leading stakeholder interviews and focus group discussions• Drafting the position paper, coordinating team inputs and quality control

As one of the Key Experts with the EU-Indonesia Trade Cooperation Facility (TCF), I established and led the EU Desk team in BKPM. The EU Desk promotes and facilitates European FDI into Indonesia.HIGHLIGHTS:• Under my leadership during two years, the EU Desk secured investment commitments totaling +US$760 million from EU Desk client companies in areas such as: renewable energy, cranes and heavy materials handling, eco-tourism, dredging, EPC, energy transmission and sportswear retail • Total EU Desk potential investor pipeline grew to a known value of +US$1.1 billion• +170 European companies (potential and existing investors) assisted during my leadership • Co-organised and moderated high-level investment policy forums on foreign ownership restrictions and foreign workers regulation - both areas have seen improvements in conditions for investors• Two roadshows to Europe (2015 & 2016). Support provided through securing delegate attendance, 1-on-1 meetings, presentations and conference moderating at a CEO Forum • Training to all 33 provincial investment boards on best practice investment promotion and facilitation.• Mystery shopper audit and on-the-job capacity-building support to BKPM’s One Stop Service Center• Led the development of sector leaflets with infographics• Co-organised and moderated live, recorded sector-focused webinars

• Oversaw the development and implementation of Hill & Knowlton’s marketing strategy across Europe, Middle East & Africa (a network of 30 offices):• Managed multi-market new business proposals leading to various assignment wins above US$200,000 • Directed Hill & Knowlton’s inaugural two-day EMEA-wide “Demystifying Digital” (D2) symposium which brought together more than 200 senior business delegates from 20 countries to explore the latest trends and developments in digital communications.• Inputs to various FDI and destination marketing pitches

• Worked on numerous assignments and proposals for corporate foreign investors into Central & Eastern Europe• Helped to conduct an international audit for the Government of Abu Dhabi of the emirate’s brand and reputation for investment and doing business. This included extensive stakeholder interviews, and a comprehensive review of all key government websites in terms of content and brand consistency.• Delivered training for colleagues on EU legislative processes.
