I am an analyst in the research team at the ISF. The membership-led structure of our organisation means I have consulted to many FTSE100 companies and SMEs on cyber security topics, offering sound advice on how to navigate future threats to business, manage human risk and prepare for cyber crises. I project manage our report writing and deliver presentations on a range of technology/information security related topics to small groups of C-suite level executives or to larger audiences of up to 500.I am the project lead on our Human-Centred Security research series, which leverages psychological theory to better understand human risk. We help organisations mitigate the risk of human error and attacker manipulation by developing and sustaining security behaviours. I am also the co-author of our flagship report, Threat Horizon 2020 and 2022 and lead author of Threat Horizon 2021 which outlines a forecast of the 9 biggest threats to information security, as well as highlighting technology trends that organisations must deal with over the next 3 years. I was the project lead for Delivering an Effective Cyber Security Exercise, and an expert in running them, offering a structured approach to simulating cyber attacks in order to prepare organisations for their eventuality, by improving resiliency and finding weaknesses before attackers do.I liaise with industry experts, academics and communicate with over 500 Member organisations to create these industry leading reports and offering sound consultation.

During my time at Goldman Sachs I worked as an Operations Analyst Industrial Placement in the Business Architecture Change Management team (BACM), aligned to Securities for 6 months, then rotated alignment and worked in the BACM team in the Liquidity and Collateral Management side of the business.I worked on a plethora of projects, ranging from managing the teams implementing new regulatory reforms (Margin Rules), to implementing new processes and procedures within Operations to help industrialise and make the firm more efficient.

I worked in the Events Management team during the annual ISF Congress in Copenhagen to help run break out meetings, assist speakers/entertainers and make sure the event ran as smoothly as possible. Companies from all around the world attended this Congress, ranging from Huawei to IBM, meaning I had the opportunity to work closely with some of the brightest minds in cyber security and further discuss my thoughts regarding future trends in analytics, big data and biometric authentication. It also gave me the chance to discuss my briefing paper I wrote whilst at PwC the previous Summer that the majority of people at this Congress had read. Being able to experience working in another country was fantastic and after much hard work this year I was then asked to work in Berlin for the 2016 ISF Congress.

During my time at PwC I worked with the Assurance Team, completing research for a briefing paper about 'Post-Password Authentication' for the Information Security Forum. I met with Analysts and other clients to interview and converse about the topic, to put together a paper that was firstly professional, but captivating also. I led meetings and was put in the driving seat for the briefing paper, which was challenging but rewarding too. I also attended the UK Chapter meeting where I met and networked with many leaders of big companies, such as JP Morgan, IBM and Deloitte. At the meeting I worked alongside the event management team, where I was put in charge of looking after Members and making sure the event ran smoothly.Furthermore, I played an important role in completing three other 'deliverables', including the Standard of Good Practice Report, Benchmark Report and Healthcheck Report, creating vital Excel sheets for Members to use, making the piece look professional, as well as being articulated well. I had to liaise with many people around the world, including New York, Boston and Atlanta, as well as pulling together their research and reports into one piece of work. Overall, the three month Summer Internship was a fantastic experience and I feel as though I have been rewarded with a whole new technological skills set, as well as having the confidence to take charge in a group of people and cope under the immense pressure of having to deliver a report on time.
