I have used technology for most of my life, but really developed a passion for it during my time at university. I worked a lot on music production, so most of my time both studying and during my free time was spent at my computer. I have learnt how to fix problems, both software and hardware related, and I am confident that I can solve the majority of problems that arise while using either Windows or macOS operating systems. Because of this, I am often the first port of call for family and friends when they have issues with technology. I have built a PC for my own personal use, and have helped friends build their own PC’s and have tailored the components to the user’s specific needs. This includes for gaming, video editing, and music production. For my own PC build, my focus was for music production. As music production requires a lot of processing power, the main components I was interested in was the RAM, CPU, and the HDD’s storage capacity. While I used primarily macOS for my university work, I decided on creating my PC with Windows for the customisation and potential future upgrades. I like to use Microsoft Azure to create virtual machines for testing software and for handling things that could be potentially dangerous to my own system. I prefer to use a cloud based virtual machine so that it is not using my PC’s resources, and I also like the extra certainty and security in recovering from any failures. My experience as a tutor has helped me to gain valuable communication skills and has given me the opportunity to learn how to best support people in their learning. I am able to remain calm and be patient with people whilst simultaneously making them feel supported and heard.
