Profile bio

About Daniel Olafson

With more than 20-years of experience in medical and injection molding manufacturing environments, I provide expertise and skill to the Plastics industry. I develop products from design through build and process validation. This includes program management, research and development, and industrialization of new products. I am fully engaged in new product introduction as described by title 21 Code of Federal Regulations, FDA 510 filings, and ISO 13485 as it pertains to the manufacture of medical devices. Beyond product build, I am familiar with sterilization requirements including Gamma, EO, and bio-burden testing. As Technology Manager, I directed the day to day activities of Project Management, New Tooling, Tooling design, Plastic injection processing, Automation, and Lean departments and was a member of the leadership team for two plants. Each plant was rated “Lean Diamond” during my tenure; the highest level awarded and pursuing Shingo recognition. For the past two years I led a team of 18 engineers in tooling, automation, process development, and lean initiatives. We successfully launched several medical devices including: a four piece safety syringe IP with 510(k), a 13 component auto-injector for a leading pharmaceutical company, and numerous smaller projects. I was responsible for working with customers, sales, and external project managers to determine product requirements, validation strategy, tooling, automation, infrastructure, pricing, timing, scrap reduction, and capital expense simulations. Our projects ranged from very simple tool refurbishment to complex multi-million dollar new product introductions.I have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, solid leadership abilities, and a ‘can do’ attitude that can help lead your organization to success. My computer skills are also strong: I am proficient in MS Office, MS Outlook, MS Internet Explorer, Visio, MS project, Minitab, and many CAD design platforms.

Listed skills include Injection Molding, Plastics, Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and 30 others.
