As a scientist/engineer, I aim to create nanotechnologies capable of harnessing light to a degree never before possible. To accomplish this I am developing novel nanofabrication methodologies for the creation of truly three dimensional structures with nanometer resolutions out of useful materials. With these new fabrication techniques I hope to create optical, photonic, and electronic devices beyond the scope of traditional nanofabrication. As an entrepreneur, I am spinning out a company from MIT called Irradiant Technologies. With this effort I intend to commercialize the nanofabrication platform invented as part of my PhD - Implosion Fabrication. Irradiant will develop this 3D nanofabrication platform to address the hardest problems in optics and photonics. As an artist, I seek to expand the boundaries of what defines photography (light-drawing). I work to create unique artistic practices by manipulating forms of light and photographic materials. In making my images I take on the roles of sculptor, painter, scientist, and inventor coupled with that of a photographer. With my work I explore the reactions of the psyche to imagery that, while abstract, is representative of the fundamental forces that comprise our world.
