The Edge on Endcliffe Village, Sheffield. This is a facility that provides the student with a dining area for meals throughout the day, a café and a bar which also serves food.I am currently working at The Edge in Endcliffe Village, Sheffield. I work here during term time whilst at University and have worked here since the age of 18. I work mainly in the foodcourt area but also work in the café when required. My duties include serving food and drink to the customers and also, when working in the café, I prepare and serve drinks including a range of coffees and also prepare and serve snack. I have excellent customer service skills and aim to ensure customer satisfaction at all times. My duties also include working on the till, working in ‘pot wash’ and on, occasion opening up the café and closing up at the end of the day. When working in the café I operate the coffee machines on a regular basis and make a range of smoothies, milkshakes and coffees. The café also sells a range of hot and cold sandwiches along with pizzas, which we prepare and cook when ordered. I also frequently work in the kitchen assisting the chef in a range of ways in preparing food. Whilst working within the kitchen I have learnt a great deal about food preparation and gained an understanding of the importance of health and safety in the kitchen and food hygiene procedures. I have worked here since September 2013.
Barista
Throughout the summer of 2015, from May to August, I worked in David Lloyd Leisure centre in Warrington. This position had a range of responsibilities, this involving working in the cafe and bar on a daily basis, making a range of hot and cold drinks. This entailed operating the till, supplying different beverages and waiting on tables. Working as a waiter within this occupation involved operating at the highest level of service, ensuring food provided was at the standard expected from the valuable customers. As a David Lloyd employee, when working a closing or opening the building shift I would have the responsibility of the building and ensuring this duty was done properly by myself. This occupation was different to anything I have done in the past as the standard of service had to be the highest possible, as customers involved were of a high calibre, paying premium prices in order to receive premium service. This was conducted by my on-going positive attitude, driven by customer satisfaction amongst other things.
Sales Assistant
As an employee at Argos I carried out a number of different tasks. I approach all my tasks from dealing with customers, or working in the stockroom which involved gaining experience in stock rotation and being able to manage the stock that come into the store, and additionally maintaining the shop floor with a positive and can-do attitude. I have experience of working in a pressurised environment as I worked in the Argos store over two Christmas periods, Argos’ busiest time of the year. I always strived to meet and exceed customer expectations wherever possible. I am an effective team player, I am able to communicate effectively and I am willing to take on extra responsibilities to maximise team performance. I welcome the challenge of taking on additional responsibilities and see this as an opportunity to further develop my skills and experience. During my time working for Argos I demonstrated that I have strong time-management skills, I am confident and possess strong leadership skills. I believe I learnt a lot from my time spent at Argos and I thrived on the competitiveness of the retail market which enabled me to prove I was a hard-working employee. I believe that my enthusiasm and pro-active attitude would be an asset to your organisation. After being called back to work once again for a second Christmas period in Argos I feel I have continued to build on the experience and skills I gained previously.
