Barista

Warrington, United Kingdom

Throughout the summer of 2015, from May to August, I worked in David Lloyd Leisure centre in Warrington. This position had a range of responsibilities, this involving working in the cafe and bar on a daily basis, making a range of hot and cold drinks. This entailed operating the till, supplying different beverages and waiting on tables. Working as a waiter within this occupation involved operating at the highest level of service, ensuring food provided was at the standard expected from the valuable customers. As a David Lloyd employee, when working a closing or opening the building shift I would have the responsibility of the building and ensuring this duty was done properly by myself. This occupation was different to anything I have done in the past as the standard of service had to be the highest possible, as customers involved were of a high calibre, paying premium prices in order to receive premium service. This was conducted by my on-going positive attitude, driven by customer satisfaction amongst other things.

As an employee at Argos I carried out a number of different tasks. I approach all my tasks from dealing with customers, or working in the stockroom which involved gaining experience in stock rotation and being able to manage the stock that come into the store, and additionally maintaining the shop floor with a positive and can-do attitude. I have experience of working in a pressurised environment as I worked in the Argos store over two Christmas periods, Argos’ busiest time of the year. I always strived to meet and exceed customer expectations wherever possible. I am an effective team player, I am able to communicate effectively and I am willing to take on extra responsibilities to maximise team performance. I welcome the challenge of taking on additional responsibilities and see this as an opportunity to further develop my skills and experience. During my time working for Argos I demonstrated that I have strong time-management skills, I am confident and possess strong leadership skills. I believe I learnt a lot from my time spent at Argos and I thrived on the competitiveness of the retail market which enabled me to prove I was a hard-working employee. I believe that my enthusiasm and pro-active attitude would be an asset to your organisation. After being called back to work once again for a second Christmas period in Argos I feel I have continued to build on the experience and skills I gained previously.
