my job role was to win new business for all Digital Intermediates & Features in the form of full feature film post packages and in addition, film recording {for both commercials & features} and all Archive & Restoration projects - this was helped by using my previous experience and contacts gained at VTR/Prime Focus.

Taking care of client’s requests and being closely involved with both DI and the VFX process. Dealing with the editorial side as well as scanning, grading and scheduling of jobs. Working very closely with smoke operators and colourists. Knowledge of all film outs, Calibration set ups and coordinating with the film labs - attending all screenings for internal and client sign off of all 35mm prints. Coordinating in all down conversions.Other daily responsibilities include: taking calls and explaining to clients the digital cinema route we can offer. Understanding client requirements and coming up with the best solution for their project. Meeting with clients and operators to discuss and come up with a project plan. Create budgets, quotes and schedules. Book resources. Outsource work when needed. Supervise projects to finish on time and on budget. Invoice of all jobs.• Provide a link between production and operators• Allocate shots to film compositors and upkeep a daily record document of their status• Liaise with co-workers across facilities in India, Los Angeles and Canada• Provide a client facing presence for all DI directors/DOPs• Managing a team of four full time DI staff and a runner, keeping a smooth running of the floor• Organising shifts and holidays• Responsible for arranging freelance staff when required• Making sure that all jobs are covered by a competent member of staff• Constantly chatting with Telecine and smoke operators making sure they are happy with the current staffing level and solving issues they may have• Client liasing, meeting, greeting making them feel comfortable and looked after, client problem solving• New business development; in touch with old contacts• Constantly looking at ways of improving workflow through the floor• In touch with engineers with all technical issues and break downs

Primary to this position is the management, supervision and assistance in workflow for all Digital Intermediate projects that come through the department. My data management experience ranges from biopic feature projects such Oasis, ‘Lord Don’t Slow Me Down’ where I was responsible for collating and scheduling all negative to and from the facility, housed in multiple countries in conjunction with numerous post facilities. An adept ability to collate every aspect of the job, be it editing, VFX and scanning schedules through to deliverables, this allowed me to be an excellent resource to my team. Through this role I have developed an excellent systematic approach to collating, organising and interpreting multiple timetables and progress reports so as to have available to me the maximum amount of project information.My technical proficiency in DI and Telecine enables me to be extremely resourceful and useful. My DI technical duties include assisting with the scanning of negative, from choosing a resolution through to setting colour space and loading and unloading film in Telecine. Handling and collating EDL’s, databases and the import and export of data is also primary to my role.

As a Telecine Assistant my primary duties range from technical through to client liaison: ensuring all aspects of the suite and booking are prepped and ready to go in advance of a booking commencement. This encompasses scanning in material for Digital Intermediate bookings, prepping the machines and collating all negative. Primary to my fascination and technical drive to progress in Telecine is a preoccupation with the manipulation of film, from proficient best lights through to enabling colour to behave as a distinct character on film.• Central to this role is an adept ability to multi-task, and a constant evolution of knowledge. The ability to think on your feet and solve technical issues speedily and efficiently, often without drawing a clients attention.• Project management and an ability to prioritise and balance a hectic schedule.• A very high level of client liaison is required, an aspect of the job that I thrive on.• With a passion for colour I find this position constantly engaging and exciting, placing me in a habitat of perpetual gain of both technical knowledge but more pointedly, the ability to interpret and realise the creative aspirations of a creative team within Telecine.• An extensive preparatory schedule, employing Auto-shotting, Telecine maintenance, edl prep and scanning schedules are utilised in combination with impeccable time-keeping skills. • Control and manage data flow across multiple Raids, using UNIX and LTO’s.

As an energetic MCR operator in a busy machine room my duties included:• Fast paced transfer of all digital deliverables from our lead on-line suites, including Spirit 2&4k, Spectre, DaVinci, Smoke, Inferno and Flame to Digital Betacam, Betacam SP, MiniDV, DVCam or D1, HDCAM, HDCAMSR, HDD5, HDV. • Preparation of all dubbing orders, showreels, and client pitches on behalf of production and sales.• The creation of Quicktimes, Mpeg2, wav and DVD, U-matic or VHS viewing copies for clients, including FTP uploads and transfers and standard conversions.• HD Experience, HDCAM & SR, HDD5 and HDV.• I have enjoyed particular success in this role due to my ability to handle both bookings and technical roles simultaneously.
