Daniel Palm studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Stuttgart, specializing in technology management and industrial manufacturing and management; graduated as certified Mechanical Engineer (Dipl.-Ing.). Daniel Palm got his doctors degree in mechanical engineering from the Vienna University of Technology. In 2013 he was appointed Professor for Logistics Management at ESB Business School, Reutlingen University. Since 1997 he worked with the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization. He started as researcher and consultant in the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) in Stuttgart where he worked in the field of Corporate Management and Corporate Logistics. In 2004 he founded a new subsidary of Fraunhofer in Vienna and until 2014 he was Division Director Production and Logistics Management and Director Finance and Administration of the Fraunhofer Austria Research GmbH – a daughter organization of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft.He worked in more than 50 research and consultancy projects in the fields of Logistics Planning and Supply Structures, Supply Chain Management, Business Process Reengineering, Factory Planning, Organization and Production management.At ESB Business School he leads the Education and Research Center „Value Creation and Logistics Systems”, the Reutlinger Zentrum Industrie 4.0 and the Steinbeis Transferplattform Industrie 4.0.
