Recently I have fallen back on my old INP skills to increase customers to my nascent Rhubarb business. I got a list of the best restaurants in town, picked 10 pounds of Rhubarb and at 9:00 AM started making cold calls. Even though it was the Monday following a holiday and most of the Head Chefs ( I only deal with the Head Chefs) were taking the day off, I was able to corner the Head Chef at the best restaurant in town. After conducting an in depth interview in which I brought up Apple Pie, Peach Pie and Pumpkin Pie, I clearly established the universal appeal and preference that all individuals have for Rhubarb, In fact, many diners make their dining reservations based on where they can get a generous slice of Rhubarb Pie. It was time for the Presentation. . . . . I pulled the 10 pounds of RHUBARB from the Trader Joe's bag. Everyone in the kitchen was aghast at it's sublime beauty. One of the dishwashers said, "That's really nice f_cking Rhubarb." He and I were in completer accord only I wish he could have found a somewhat less tawdry adjective. Alas, the vagaries of language. And so against overwhelming odds I added the best restaurant in town to my swelling list of customers. The same week I also made two additional sales: one for 20 pounds to a woman who makes Rhubarb Jam and the other to a guy from Penns Valley who hangs sheetrock. But now Persephone has returned to the netherworld and I must leave this venture until she returns. But I have many other entrepreneurial ventures. Read more about: Dan's Dreadnoughts!!!
