I am currently a third year law student at the Syracuse University College of Law. Throughout my time here I have been presented with many wonderful opportunities such as being able to serve as the Vice President of the International Law Society during my second year, participating in three different advocacy competitions, most notably the Uvaldo Herrera National Moot Court Competition, and now I have been given the opportunity to serve as the Executive Director of the Travis H.D. Lewin Advocacy Honor Society for my third year. In the Summer semester between my first and second years, I worked as an extern at the Public Defender's Office for the Ninth Judicial Circuit in Orlando, Florida. There I was able to work under four amazing felony attorneys who helped me appreciate the work of a criminal defense attorney. Currently, I am working as an intern with the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of New York. The work I do here is invaluable, I have been given many opportunities to come up with my own creative research in an effort to help the attorneys help the clients in every way possible. My experiences in these two Summer placements has given me an appreciation for the work of a Public Defender, so much so that I would like to work as one after graduating.
